Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coffee

Brew the espresso or strong coffee. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur. Allow it to cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Whip the Cream

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

In another bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and egg yolks (reserve the egg whites). Mix until smooth and creamy.

  4. 4

    Fold in the Whipped Cream

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Beat Egg Whites

In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger in the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

In a rectangular or square dish, place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

  3. 8

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

  4. 9

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Finishing Touches

  1. 10

    Dust with Cocoa Powder

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder using a fine mesh sieve.

  2. 11

    Serve

Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your classic Tiramisu!
