Method

Prepare the Mussels

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any debris. Remove the beards (the fibrous strands) by pulling them off.

  2. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 3

    Add Wine and Mussels

Pour in the dry white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover with a lid, and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened.

  4. 4

    Finish with Lemon and Seasoning

Once the mussels are cooked, squeeze the juice of one lemon into the pot, add chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Stir gently to combine and remove from heat.

Prepare the Crostinis

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare the Baguette Slices

Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices. Arrange them on a baking sheet.

  3. 7

    Brush with Olive Oil

Brush both sides of each baguette slice with olive oil.

  4. 8

    Toast the Crostinis

Toast the baguette slices in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven.

  5. 9

    Rub with Garlic

While the crostinis are still warm, rub one side of each slice with the whole garlic clove for added flavor.
