Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine cooked sausage, pepperoni slices, crumbled bacon, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and Italian seasoning. Mix well.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 7

    Roll Out the Dough

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 8

    Add the Filling

Spread the filling mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. 9

    Roll the Stromboli

Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough over the filling to create a log shape. Pinch the seams to seal.

  4. 10

    Prepare for Baking

Place the rolled Stromboli seam side down on a greased baking sheet. Brush the top with beaten egg, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and oregano.

  5. 11

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
