Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 7

    Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 8

    Add the Filling

Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by the sliced meatballs, Italian seasoning, and grated Parmesan cheese.

  4. 9

    Roll the Stromboli

Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough tightly away from you, sealing the edges as you go.

  5. 10

    Bake the Stromboli

Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on a greased baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  6. 11

    Cool and Serve

Let the Stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with extra pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
