Cake Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Eggs and Lemon Zest
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the lemon zest.

Fold in Blueberries
Gently fold in the fresh blueberries to the batter.

Bake the Cakes
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form.

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
Assembling the Cake

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of the mascarpone frosting on top.

Top with the second cake layer and spread frosting over the top and sides of the cake.
