Burger Patty

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Mixing Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Forming the Patty

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty shape, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Grilling

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  2. 4

    Adding Cheese

If you want to add cheese, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Preparing the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Building the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a leaf of lettuce followed by the cooked patty. Top the patty with tomato slices, onion slices, and your choice of ketchup and mustard. Place the top half of the bun on the burger.
