Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until combined.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Sauté Spinach

In a skillet over medium heat, add fresh spinach and garlic powder. Cook until the spinach wilts. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 6

    Prepare Vegetables

In the same skillet, sauté the diced tomatoes, mushrooms, and green peppers until tender. Season with salt and pepper.

Assembling Stromboli

  1. 7

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.

  2. 8

    Add Filling

Spread the creamy garlic sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Layer the sautéed spinach, vegetables, mozzarella cheese, and black olives on top.

  3. 9

    Roll and Seal

Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a log. Pinch the ends to seal and place it seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 10

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the stromboli for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
