Mushroom Topping
Toasted Garlic Bread
Method
Prepare the Mushroom Topping
- 1
Sauté the Mushrooms
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the button mushrooms and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown.
- 2
Add Garlic and Sherry
Mince the garlic cloves and add to the skillet with the mushrooms. Sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Then, pour in the sherry wine and let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly.
- 3
Finish the Mushroom Mixture
Stir in the lemon juice and remove the skillet from heat. Grate the asiago cheese and mix it into the mushroom mixture until well combined.
- 4
Garnish with Scallions
Chop the scallions and sprinkle them over the mushroom topping, mixing well.
Prepare the Toasted Garlic Bread
- 5
Slice the Baguette
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice the baguette into 1-inch thick slices.
- 6
Prepare the Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic powder. If using parsley, chop it finely and mix it in as well.
- 7
Toast the Bread
Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each slice of baguette. Place the slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
