Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until the dough comes together, then turn it out onto a floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Place the rolled-out dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the base. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

  4. 8

    Add Toppings

Add your chosen toppings (up to 4) evenly over the cheese. Sprinkle dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes on top.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

  6. 10

    Slice and Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice into wedges, and serve hot.
