Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
Topping Preparation
- 5
Cook Sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- 6
Prepare Vegetables
Slice the red onions, mushrooms, and roasted red peppers if not pre-sliced.
- 7
Cook Bacon
Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble.
Pizza Assembly
- 8
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 9
Shape Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 12-inch round. Transfer it to a greased pizza pan or baking sheet.
- 10
Add Sauce and Cheese
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- 11
Add Toppings
Layer the cooked Italian sausage, pepperoni, roasted red peppers, sliced mushrooms, crumbled bacon, and red onions over the cheese.
- 12
Bake Pizza
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Serving
- 13
Slice and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice into wedges and serve hot.
