Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add it along with olive oil to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, and salt. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to a 12-inch circle.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread an even layer of pizza sauce over the dough, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

  4. 9

    Bake Pizza

Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  5. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
