Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the 10 oz. Certified Angus NY Strip steak and pat it dry with paper towels. Rub it with 1 tablespoon of olive oil on both sides. Season generously with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. Once hot, place the seasoned steak on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until it reaches your desired doneness (135°F for medium-rare). Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Sides Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare Green Beans

While the steak is cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add 2 cups of green beans and blanch for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.

  2. 4

    Prepare Mashed Potatoes

In a separate pot, boil 2 cups of peeled and diced potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher and mix in butter and milk to taste until creamy. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
