Method
Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
Place a Rocks glass (or old-fashioned glass) in the freezer or fill it with ice and cold water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass add 2 oz bourbon, 1/2 oz Green Chartreuse, 1/2 oz sweet vermouth, 1/4 oz St. Germain, 2 dashes orange bitters and 1 dash Angostura bitters.
- 3
Add ice and stir
Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice and stir vigorously for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full stirs) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 4
Prepare glass
If you chilled the Rocks glass with ice and water, empty it now and add a single large ice cube (or fresh ice).
- 5
Strain
Strain the mixed cocktail into the prepared Rocks glass over the large ice cube.
Garnish & Serve
- 6
- 7
Add cherry (optional)
If using, drop a Luxardo cherry into the drink for a touch of sweetness and aroma.
- 8
Serve immediately. The General Patton is best enjoyed slowly to appreciate the balance of bourbon, herbal Chartreuse, and floral elderflower notes.
