Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Muddle fruit and sweetener

Place the quartered fresh strawberries, granulated sugar, and the lime wedges into a sturdy mixing glass or a rocks glass. Use a muddler (or the back of a wooden spoon) to press and twist until the strawberries are broken down, the lime releases its juice and oils, and the sugar is mostly dissolved β€” about 20–30 seconds. If you prefer a smoother, sweeter drink, add the 1/2 tablespoon simple syrup here and gently stir to combine.

  2. 2

    Add vodka

Pour 2 oz vodka over the muddled strawberry-lime mixture. Give the contents a quick stir (5–8 seconds) to lift the macerated fruit and integrate the alcohol.

  3. 3

    Assemble glass

Fill the glass with crushed ice to near the top (about 1 cup). If you muddled in a separate mixing glass, transfer the muddled mixture into the serving glass first, then add ice. If you muddled in the serving glass, add ice directly on top of the mixture.

  4. 4

    Finish and garnish

Top with an optional 1 oz club soda or sparkling water if you want a slightly fizzy, lighter drink. Give the drink a gentle stir to lift the muddled fruit throughout the cocktail. Garnish with a halved fresh strawberry and a lime wheel or wedge on the rim.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve immediately with a short stirring spoon or straw so the drinker can further press the fruit while sipping. Enjoy responsibly.
