- 1
Prepare the glass
Run a lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks or coupe glass. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and gently press the rim into the salt to coat. Set the glass aside.
- 2
Combine ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice (juice 1 medium lime), 1 oz orange liqueur, and 1/2 tablespoon agave syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter, smoother drink.
- 3
Shake
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 12β15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 4
Strain and serve
Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice if desired (traditional on-the-rocks) or leave empty for a straight-up pour. Double-strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer to catch ice shards and pulp.
- 5
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
