Beef Patties

Optional Add-ins

Method

Beef Patties

  1. 1

    Mix and form patties

Place ground beef in a bowl. Add kosher salt, black pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Gently mix with your hands just until combined — avoid overworking the meat. Divide into two even portions (about 8 ounces each) and form into patties roughly 3/4" thick, slightly wider than the buns. Press a shallow dimple in the center of each patty to reduce puffing while cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook patties

Heat a heavy skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add 1 tsp vegetable oil and swirl. Place patties on the hot surface and cook without moving for 3-4 minutes until a brown crust forms. Flip once and cook another 3 minutes for medium (adjust time ±1 minute for doneness preference). During the last 60 seconds, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet or tent with foil to melt the cheese.

Buns & Toppings

  1. 3

    Prepare buns

Split buns and spread softened butter on cut sides. Toast buttered sides on a skillet or griddle over medium heat until golden and crisp, about 1-2 minutes. Remove and keep warm.

  2. 4

    Prep vegetables

While patties cook, rinse and dry lettuce leaves. Slice tomato into thick slices and thinly slice red onion. Lay out pickle slices. If using bacon or avocado, cook bacon until crisp and slice avocado now.

Burgerly Sauce

  1. 5

    Make sauce

In a small bowl combine mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and hot sauce (if using). Stir until smooth and taste; adjust seasoning or vinegar for brightness. Refrigerate until ready to assemble.

Assembly

  1. 6

Spread a generous tablespoon of Burgerly sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a lettuce leaf on the sauced bun, then the cheesy beef patty. Add tomato slice, a few red onion rings, and pickle slices on top of the patty. If using, add bacon and/or avocado. Spread a little sauce on the top bun, close the burger, and press gently to set. Serve immediately.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the Burgerly Burger hot with fries, chips, or a side salad. Leftover sauce keeps refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
