Classic Arnold Palmer
Simple Syrup (if making from scratch)
Method
Simple Syrup (if needed)
- 1
Make simple syrup
Combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is clear (do not boil vigorously). Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Transfer to a sealed container and refrigerate until needed.

Brew and cool tea
Brew strong black tea using 2 tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose leaf) in 2 cups of near-boiling water. Steep 4–6 minutes depending on desired strength. Remove tea bags or strain leaves and let the tea cool to room temperature, then chill if time allows.
- 3
Juice lemons
Roll the lemons on the counter to loosen juices, cut in half, and juice until you have 1/2 cup (about one medium lemon). Strain seeds and pulp if you prefer a smoother drink.
- 4
Combine ingredients
In a pitcher, combine the cooled black tea (2 cups) and fresh lemon juice (1/2 cup). Add 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, stir, and taste. Adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup if desired.

- 6
Serve
Fill two serving glasses with ice (about 1/2 cup ice per glass). Pour the Arnold Palmer over the ice, dividing evenly. Garnish each glass with a lemon slice and a sprig of mint if using. Serve immediately.
- 7
Storage
Store any leftover unsweetened mixture (tea + lemon) in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. If you've added club soda, consume immediately for best texture.
