Mochi Ingredients

Method

Mochi Preparation Steps

1

Prepare the Mochi Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine sweet rice flour, sugar, and water. Stir until you have a smooth batter. If desired, add food coloring to achieve your preferred color.

2

Steam the Mixture

Transfer the mixture to a heatproof dish and steam for about 20 minutes until the dough is translucent and slightly sticky.

3

Shape the Mochi

Once the dough is cooked, let it cool slightly. Dust a clean surface with cornstarch. Scoop pieces of the dough, flatten them, and place a small amount of fruit filling or red bean paste in the center. Pinch the edges together to seal and form a ball.

4

Dust and Store

Roll the mochi balls in cornstarch to prevent sticking. You can serve them immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
