Method
Prepare the Cream Mixture
- 1
Whip the Heavy Cream
In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. This should take about 3-5 minutes using a hand mixer or stand mixer.
- 2
Mix Mascarpone and Sugar
In another bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
- 3
Fold in the Whipped Cream
Gently fold the whipped heavy cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
- 4
Brew the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee (about 300 ml) and let it cool slightly. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur.
Assemble the Tiramisu
- 5
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 6
Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 7
Repeat the Layers
Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
Chill and Serve
- 8
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 9
Serve and Garnish
Just before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and add chocolate shavings if desired.
