Tomato Sauce
Pizza Assembly
Method
Prepare Tomato Sauce
- 1
- 2
Add Tomatoes
Pour in the canned whole tomatoes (including the juice) and break them up with a spoon. Stir well.
- 3
Season the Sauce
Add salt, black pepper, and dried oregano to the sauce. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
Assemble and Bake Pizza
- 4
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 250°C (482°F) or as high as it goes. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 5
Roll Out Dough
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet or a pizza peel if using a stone.
- 6
Spread Tomato Sauce
Evenly spread the prepared tomato sauce over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 7
Add Cheese
Tear the fresh mozzarella cheese into pieces and distribute them evenly over the sauce. Add halved cherry tomatoes on top.
- 8
Bake the Pizza
If using a pizza stone, slide the pizza onto the stone. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- 9
Add Stracciatella and Basil
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and dollop the fresh stracciatella cheese over the top. Add fresh basil leaves and drizzle with olive oil.
- 10
Slice and Serve
Let the pizza cool for a minute, slice into wedges, and serve immediately.
