Method

Mussels

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt. Remove the beards by pulling them away from the shell.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sauce

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Add Wine and Herbs

Pour in the white wine, then add the chopped parsley, chopped thyme, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  4. 4

    Cook the Mussels

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot. Cover and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened up. Discard any mussels that do not open.

  5. 5

    Serve

Transfer the mussels to a serving bowl and pour the sauce over them. Garnish with additional fresh herbs if desired.

Grilled Bread

  1. 6

    Prepare the Bread

Slice the baguette or ciabatta in half lengthwise. Brush the cut sides with olive oil.

  2. 7

    Grill the Bread

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Place the bread cut side down on the grill and toast for about 2-3 minutes until golden and crisp.

  3. 8

    Add Garlic Flavor

Remove the bread from the grill and rub the cut sides with the halved garlic clove for flavor.

  4. 9

    Serve with Mussels

Serve the grilled bread alongside the mussels for dipping into the delicious sauce.
