Gelato

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Gelato

Scoop the vanilla gelato into a bowl and let it soften slightly at room temperature for about 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Shape the Gelato

Once softened, using an ice cream scoop or spoon, form the gelato into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.

Breading

  1. 3

    Prepare Breading Stations

Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs and milk (whisk together), and one with crushed cornflakes mixed with sugar and salt.

  2. 4

    Coat the Gelato

Take each frozen gelato ball and coat it in flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, roll the gelato ball in the crushed cornflakes until fully coated.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Gelato

Carefully place a few breaded gelato balls into the hot oil, taking care not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 30-40 seconds or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Immediately

Serve the fried vanilla gelato immediately while it's still warm and crispy. Optionally, drizzle with chocolate sauce or serve with fresh berries.
