Salad Base

Method

Prepare the Croutons

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

    Toss the Bread

In a large mixing bowl, combine cubed bread with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Toss until the bread is evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Bake the Croutons

Spread the coated bread cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through.

Make the Dressing

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a blender or food processor, combine lemon juice, olive oil, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  2. 5

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning with additional salt if needed.

Assemble the Salad

  1. 6

    Prepare the Lettuce

Wash and dry the little gem lettuce heads. Cut them into quarters or leave them whole as desired.

  2. 7

    Dress the Salad

In a large bowl, add the lettuce and drizzle with the Caesar dressing. Toss gently to coat the leaves evenly.

  3. 8

    Add Croutons

Top the dressed lettuce with homemade croutons and sprinkle with cracked peppercorn.
