Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.

  2. 2

    Slice the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch thick) and set aside.

  3. 3

    Mix the Cream and Seasoning

In a bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.

  4. 4

    Layer the Potatoes

Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.

  5. 5

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle half of the grated Parmesan cheese and half of the shredded Cheddar cheese on top of the first layer.

  6. 6

    Repeat Layers

Add the remaining sliced potatoes and pour the rest of the cream mixture over. Finish with the remaining cheeses.

  7. 7

    Bake the Gratin

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  8. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh thyme before serving.
