Method

Ice Cream Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Ice Cream Base

In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks. Gradually add the warm cream mixture to the yolks, whisking constantly. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat until thickened.

  3. 3

    Chill and Churn

Remove from heat, stir in honey and vanilla. Let cool, then refrigerate until completely chilled. Churn in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Baklava Bits Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Baklava

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Layer the phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter. Sprinkle chopped walnuts, cinnamon, and sugar between layers.

  2. 5

    Bake the Baklava

Once all layers are assembled, cut into diamond shapes and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Make the Syrup

In a saucepan, bring water and sugar to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and pour over the hot baklava.

Candied Pistachios Preparation

  1. 7

    Candy the Pistachios

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then add pistachios. Stir to coat and cook until syrup thickens and nuts are coated. Remove from heat and cool on parchment paper.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Sundae

In a bowl, scoop Michigan honey ice cream, top with baklava bits, candied pistachios, and shredded phyllo. Serve immediately.
