Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the porterhouse steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steak cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper, pressing the seasoning into the meat.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill to high heat or heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil to the skillet if using.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the porterhouse steak on the grill or skillet. Sear for 4-5 minutes on one side until a golden crust forms. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to reach your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Add Flavor

During the last minute of cooking, add crushed garlic cloves, fresh rosemary, and butter to the pan. Baste the steak with the melted butter and aromatics.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice the porterhouse steak against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
