Side of Cheez Whiz

Method

Side of Cheez Whiz

  1. 1

    Ready the serving vessel

Choose a small heatproof ramekin or bowl for serving. Place the ramekin on a heatproof surface or a small plate.

  2. 2

    Soften and combine

Spoon 1 cup prepared Cheez Whiz into the ramekin. Add 2 tablespoons whole milk. Let sit 30 seconds so the milk begins to warm and the Cheez Whiz softens, then stir vigorously with a small whisk or fork until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.

  3. 3

    Heat gently (microwave method)

Microwave the bowl on medium power for 20–30 seconds, then remove and stir. Repeat in 10–15 second bursts, stirring between each, until the Cheez Whiz is warm and fluid but not boiling (total microwave time typically 30–60 seconds depending on power).

  4. 4

    Heat gently (stovetop method)

Alternatively, place the Cheez Whiz and milk in a small nonstick saucepan over very low heat. Stir constantly with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon until warmed through and smooth, about 2–4 minutes. Do not let it boil.

  5. 5

    Season and adjust consistency

Once warm and smooth, stir in 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika and 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper. Add 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce if you want a slight tang and heat. If the dip is too thick, add milk 1/2 teaspoon at a time and stir until you reach desired pourable consistency.

  6. 6

    Finish and serve

Transfer the warmed Cheez Whiz to the serving ramekin if you heated in a saucepan. Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the top for color and a hint of freshness. Serve immediately with fries, pretzels, or vegetables.

  7. 7

    Storage

Cool any leftovers to room temperature, cover, and refrigerate up to 5 days. Rewarm gently using the microwave in short bursts or on low heat on the stovetop, stirring frequently.
