Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add the olive oil, salt, and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Shape the Knots

After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small pieces (about 1.5 oz each). Roll each piece into a rope and tie it into a knot. Place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Prepare Garlic Butter

In a small saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter over low heat. Add minced garlic (4 cloves) and chopped parsley (2 tbs) and cook for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

  5. 5

    Bake the Knots

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the garlic butter mixture over the knots. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from the oven, brush with any remaining garlic butter, and serve warm.
