Fried Calamari
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well to create the coating for the calamari.
- 2
Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 3
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in small batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 6
Serve the fried calamari hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
