French Toast

Candied Walnuts

Method

Preparation of Candied Walnuts

  1. 1

    Make Candied Walnuts

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine walnuts, sugar, and water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture turns golden and the walnuts are coated, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool on parchment paper.

Making Whipped Cream

  1. 2

    Whip the Cream

In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract using an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Set aside.

Preparing French Toast

  1. 3

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.

  2. 4

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Spread peanut butter on four slices of bread and jelly on the other four slices. Assemble into sandwiches.

  3. 5

    Dip and Cook

Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, allowing the bread to soak for a few seconds on each side, then place in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Serve the French toast warm, topped with whipped cream and candied walnuts.
