Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dough Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it along with olive oil to the flour.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the pizza.
- 6
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a circle or rectangle, about 12 inches in diameter.
- 7
Add Sauce and Cheese
Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute it evenly on top of the sauce.
- 8
Season and Drizzle
Sprinkle salt and black pepper to taste over the pizza. Drizzle with olive oil.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- 10
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately scatter fresh basil leaves on top. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
