Potato Preparation

Optional Toppings

Method

Frying the Potatoes

1

Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

2

Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potato strips in a bowl of cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

3

Preheat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

4

Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

5

Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

6

Drain and Season

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels. While still hot, season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
