Churros

Cinnamon Sugar

Method

Churros Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Churro Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms. Let it cool for about 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

After cooling, add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch long strips directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.

  6. 6

    Fry Churros

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Cinnamon Sugar Mixture

  1. 7

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Mix well.

  2. 8

    Coat Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 9

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 10

    Add Chocolate

Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
