Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Shrimp

Rinse the head-on shrimp under cold water and drain well. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Chop Garlic and Parsley

Mince the garlic cloves and finely chop the fresh parsley, setting them aside for later use.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Sauté Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes or until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.

  3. 5

    Cook Shrimp

Add the head-on shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until they turn pink, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  4. 6

    Add Optional Ingredients

If using, add the butter and white wine to the skillet. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  5. 7

    Finish with Parsley and Lemon

Remove the skillet from heat. Squeeze the juice of one lemon over the shrimp and toss with the chopped parsley.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Transfer the shrimp to a serving dish, drizzle with any remaining sauce from the skillet, and serve immediately. Enjoy with crusty bread or over pasta if desired.
