Preparation
- 1
Clean the Mussels
Rinse the green mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or debris. Remove the beards (the fibrous strands) from the mussels.
- 2
Prepare the Sauce
Mince the garlic cloves and chop the parsley finely. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
Cooking
- 3
Add the Liquid Ingredients
Pour in the white wine and lemon juice into the saucepan with the sautéed garlic. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 4
Cook the Mussels
Add the cleaned green mussels to the saucepan. Cover with a lid and steam for 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened. Discard any mussels that do not open.
- 5
Finish the Dish
Once the mussels are cooked, stir in the chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
Serving
- 6
Plate the Mussels
Transfer the cooked mussels to a serving platter, spooning the sauce over the top. Serve immediately with crusty bread for dipping.
