Preparation
- 1
Season the Tilapia
Rinse the tilapia fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika evenly.
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, beat the eggs. In the third dish, place the breadcrumbs.
Breading
- 3
Coat the Tilapia
Take each seasoned tilapia fillet and first dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally, coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
Cooking
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is hot enough by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; if it sizzles, it’s ready.
- 5
Fry the Tilapia
Carefully place the breaded tilapia fillets into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the tilapia from the oil using a slotted spatula and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
