Brewing Process

  1. 1

    Mashing

Heat 5 liters of filtered water to 68°C (155°F). Add the Pilsner and Carapils malts, and let them steep for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge the grains with an additional 3 liters of hot water to extract sugars.

  3. 3

    Boiling

Bring the wort to a boil and add the Saaz hops. Boil for 60 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cooling

Cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller until it reaches about 20°C (68°F).

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and pitch the lager yeast. Seal and ferment at 10°C (50°F) for 2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Packaging

After fermentation is complete, transfer the beer to bottles or kegs. Carbonate as desired.
