Rice Cake

Gochujang Bolognese

Spiced Hazelnut Topping

Method

Prepare Rice Cake

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, water, and salt. Stir until smooth.

  2. 2

    Steam Rice Cake

Pour the mixture into a greased steaming dish and steam for about 30 minutes until set. Once done, let it cool before cutting into desired shapes.

Prepare Gochujang Bolognese

  1. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Gochujang

Stir in crushed tomatoes, gochujang, soy sauce, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

Prepare Spiced Hazelnut Topping

  1. 5

    Toast Hazelnuts

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped hazelnuts, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until toasted and fragrant.

Assemble Dish

  1. 6

    Combine and Serve

Plate the rice cakes, top with gochujang bolognese, and sprinkle spiced hazelnuts over the top. Serve warm.
