Method
Cooking the Spaghetti
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4-5 liters of water to a rolling boil. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
Cook Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Drain Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Preparing the Sauce
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
Add Tomatoes
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, stirring to combine. Season with salt, black pepper, and dried basil.
Simmer Sauce
Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining and Serving
Combine Spaghetti and Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce. Toss gently to coat the spaghetti evenly with the sauce.
Serve
Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and optional red pepper flakes or fresh basil leaves if desired.
