Method
Preparation of the Meat
Let it Rest
After seasoning, let the prime rib sit at room temperature for about 1 hour to absorb the flavors and ensure even cooking.
Cooking the Prime Rib
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) for slow cooking.
Roasting the Meat
Place the seasoned prime rib in a roasting pan, bone side down. Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast, avoiding bones. Roast in the preheated oven for approximately 6-8 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
Resting Period
Once the prime rib reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing; this helps retain the juices.
Serving Suggestions
Prepare Optional Sides
While the prime rib is resting, prepare your optional sides such as mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, or Yorkshire pudding.
Slice and Serve
Slice the prime rib against the grain and serve with your choice of sides. Enjoy your delicious prime rib dinner!
