Method

Preparation of Goat Cheese

  1. 1

    Prepare the Goat Cheese

Cut the goat cheese into small rounds, about 1/2 inch thick. Freeze the rounds for about 30 minutes to firm them up, making them easier to bread and fry.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs. Season the flour with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese

Coat each goat cheese round in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each piece is fully covered.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then crumble into pieces.

  2. 5

    Fry the Goat Cheese

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded goat cheese rounds. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the fresh spinach, arugula, sliced strawberries, crumbled bacon, chopped shallots, and spiced pecans.

  2. 7

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the salad and toss gently to combine.

  3. 8

    Serve

Place the dressed salad on plates and top with the fried goat cheese rounds. Serve immediately.
