Family Garden Salad
Pitcher of Soda
Method
Large Two-Topping Pizza
- 1
Prepare oven and dough
Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) or highest temperature your oven supports with a pizza stone or heavy baking sheet inside. If using refrigerated dough, allow it to rest 20–30 minutes at room temperature so it's easy to stretch.
- 2
Shape crust
Lightly flour a work surface. Stretch or roll the dough into a 14-inch circle, leaving a slightly thicker edge for the crust. Transfer the stretched dough to a piece of parchment paper or a well-floured pizza peel.
- 3
Assemble pizza
Brush the dough edge and underside lightly with 1 tablespoon olive oil to help browning. Spread 1 cup pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle 3 cups shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce. Distribute topping 1 (about 40 pepperoni slices) over half or evenly across the pizza, then add topping 2 (about 1 cup sliced bell pepper) in a second layer or arranged as desired. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon dried oregano and 1 teaspoon salt lightly over the top.
- 4
Bake
Carefully slide the pizza (on parchment or peel) onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake 8–12 minutes, rotating halfway, until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and lightly browned. Ovens vary; start checking at 8 minutes.
- 5
Finish
Remove pizza from oven and let rest 2–3 minutes. Slice into 8 portions and serve hot.
Family Garden Salad
- 6
Prepare vegetables
Wash and dry all salad greens and vegetables thoroughly. Halve the cherry tomatoes, slice the cucumber into rounds, thinly slice the red onion, and shred or prepare the carrots if not pre-shredded.
- 7
Assemble salad
In a large salad bowl, combine 8 cups mixed greens, 2 cups halved cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumber, 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion, and 1/2 cup shredded carrots. Toss gently to combine.
- 8
Dress and finish
Drizzle 3/4 cup salad dressing over the salad (start with half the dressing and add more to taste). Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle 1 cup croutons on top just before serving so they stay crisp.
Pitcher of Soda
- 9
Mix soda pitcher
In a 2-quart (or larger) pitcher, combine 1/2 cup soda syrup or concentrate with 1.5 liters cold carbonated water (or follow syrup manufacturer ratio). Stir gently to mix without losing too much carbonation. Add 4 cups ice to chill the pitcher and 4 lemon or lime slices if desired.
- 10
Serve
Pour into glasses with extra ice if desired and serve immediately alongside the pizza and salad. Keep remaining soda chilled.
