Onion Rings
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, mixing until the batter is smooth and has no lumps.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter the Onions
Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve hot with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
