Cooking Instructions
Cook the Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Pomodoro Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn it.
Add Tomatoes
Add the canned whole tomatoes to the skillet. Crush the tomatoes with a wooden spoon and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Season the Sauce
Stir in the fresh basil leaves and season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
Combine Spaghetti and Sauce
Add the cooked spaghetti to the pomodoro sauce and toss to combine until the pasta is well coated.
Serve
Serve the spaghetti pomodoro hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
