Method

Preparing the Mussels

1

Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water and scrub the shells to remove any debris. Remove the beards if present.

2

Sauté the Garlic

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

3

Add Tomatoes and Mussels

Add crushed tomatoes to the pot and stir well. Then, add the cleaned mussels, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Cover the pot and let cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened.

4

Finish with Parsley

Once the mussels are cooked, remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley.

Preparing the Crostini

5

Toast the Baguette

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush the baguette slices with olive oil on both sides and place them on a baking sheet.

6

Bake

Bake the baguette slices in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp. Remove from oven and rub the top of each slice with the halved garlic clove.
