Sautéed Mussels
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt. Discard any mussels that are open or damaged.
- 2
Sauté Aromatics
In a large pot or deep skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- 3
Add Tomatoes
Add the canned diced tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Stir and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- 4
Cook the Mussels
Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and cover it with a lid. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened. Discard any that remain closed.
- 5
Finish with Lemon and Parsley
Stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley just before serving.
- 6
Serve
Serve the sautéed mussels hot with grilled bread on the side for dipping into the sauce.
