Crispy Calamari
Spicy Aioli
Method
Crispy Calamari
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Coating
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.
- 3
Coat the Calamari
Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
Spicy Aioli
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic cloves, and salt to taste.
- 8
Adjust Seasoning
Taste the aioli and adjust the seasoning by adding more sriracha or salt if desired.
- 9
Serve
Transfer the spicy aioli to a serving bowl and serve alongside the crispy calamari.
