Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of straight bourbon, 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and 1 oz of bitter appertivo.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Add ice cubes to the mixing glass. Fill it enough to cover the liquid completely.

  4. 4

    Stir the Cocktail

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds. This helps chill and dilute the drink to perfection.

  5. 5

    Strain into Glass

Empty the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass and strain the mixed drink into the glass using a fine mesh strainer or a cocktail strainer.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Twist an orange peel over the drink to release the oils, then drop it into the glass as a garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy!
