Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs. Then add the whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Make Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, mixing until smooth and fluffy.

  2. 9

    Add Vanilla

Finally, stir in the vanilla extract to the frosting and mix well.

  3. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a layer of frosting on top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
