Mixed Berries Compote

Method

Mixed Berries Compote

  1. 1

    Prepare the Compote

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Stir gently to combine.

  2. 2

    Cook the Compote

Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the berries have softened and released their juices. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Whipped Cream

  1. 3

    Make the Whipped Cream

In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

  2. 4

    Whip the Cream

Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes. Be careful not to overwhip.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare Fresh Berries

Wash and pat dry the fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Dish

In serving bowls or glasses, layer the mixed berries compote at the bottom, then add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top.

  3. 7

    Add Fresh Berries

Top with fresh berries of your choice, and dust with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
